LEMON RED ONION
Hola! How are you guys? This is my first recipe I'm gonna share with you, and it is about onion, red onion, that kind of bulbs with a strong, but tasty flavor, of course for the spicy flavor lovers. In mexican food, onion is in a lot of meals, from tacos, meat dishes, chicken dishes, fish and shrimps meals, and of course, in almost every sauce, making the diference between a tasteless sauce and a delicious one.
But I need to say, not everyone eat it, i like so much onion, is a very enhancer of flavor and people around the world can confirm that, because we can find it in so many countries, in so many kitchens and it is present in their meals, so if you want to try this easy recipe, with only three ingredients, please go on, if you don't like this purple friend, just give it a chance. RED ONION WITH LEMON
Ingredients:
Red Onion
Lemon juice
Oregano
Salt & Pepper (To taste)
First we need to cut onion, this a free step, you can cut it like you want, but here we cut like we see in the photo, into thin strips or julienne, because with that way to cut, lemon juice, onion and condiments would be able to mix and make a single and tasty flavor in our mouth.
Then we cut lemon and squeeze all that juice, making sure the red onion get washed with all that citric flavor, you can let rest a few minutes, the onion will start to get softer, but if you like crunchy, just do this a little faster, you are the boss and taster here.
Add salt, pepper and the movie star here, the oregano, get sure to put dried oregano, and not fresh, because the flavor is so much diferent, and we don´t want that, just crush and sprinkle the oregano in your onion, and shake gently to integrate everything.
And that's it, so easy, so fast, and tasty. I like to eat this way, but I also like to put green chili on it, it would be serrano or jalapeño (both have a similar flavor), be brave and don't take off seeds, and make this and spicy and hot experience to your meals.
But it is your own red onion sauce, you can choose the way to do it, this is the mexican way, i hope you love it.
You can add some vinager to conserve it a lot of days, but if you are like me, maybe this wouldn't last a single day, so tasty, you can eat it with a lot of dishes and your mouth is gonna say THANK YOU, see you next time to share another salsa!
